The former University of Mary standout turned one of the most productive seasons in program history into an NFL opportunity.

University of Mary wide receiver Luke Little added another milestone to an exceptional career when he received an invitation to attend the Chicago Bears rookie camp in 2022.

For the Marauder community, the invitation marked both a personal achievement for Little and a meaningful moment for the program as another student-athlete earned the opportunity to compete at the professional level.

Little’s invitation followed a remarkable 2021 season in which he led all NCAA divisions in touchdown receptions with 20, setting a new University of Mary single-season record.

He finished the year with 82 receptions for 1,282 yards, establishing himself as one of the most productive and dependable receivers in the nation. His season stood out not only because of the final numbers, but because of how consistently he delivered. Little scored a touchdown in 10 of 11 games, caught multiple touchdowns in a game eight times, and surpassed 100 receiving yards seven times. He also finished the NCAA Division II regular season among the national leaders in receiving yards per game, total receiving yards, receptions, total touchdowns, and scoring production.

Over the course of his Marauders career, Little built a résumé that places him firmly among the program’s most accomplished receivers. He was a two-time All-Northern Sun selection in 2018 and 2021 and finished his career with 155 receptions, 2,403 receiving yards, and 30 touchdown catches. He ranks second all-time at UMary in touchdown receptions, third in total touchdowns, and sixth in both catches and receiving yards.

Little’s opportunity with the Bears also reflected the broader package he brought as a prospect. At 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds, he paired size with athleticism, posting a 4.5-second 40-yard dash and 16 bench press repetitions at 225 pounds. Those traits, combined with his production and consistency, helped draw the attention of NFL evaluators.

Just as importantly, Little’s legacy at the University of Mary extends beyond football. He graduated with an undergraduate degree in business and also earned his MBA, while being named to the Northern Sun All-Academic Team and selected as UMary’s 2021–22 NSIC Male Honor Student-Athlete of the Year.

His story reflects the values that continue to define Marauder football: excellence in competition, commitment in the classroom, and growth as a person.

For alumni, families, and supporters, Little’s invitation to the Chicago Bears rookie camp served as a proud reminder of what is possible through hard work, development, and perseverance. His path also placed him among a small group of Marauders from the program’s NCAA era to receive an NFL opportunity, joining Shawn Melland, EJ Reid, Josh Murray, and John Oyloe.

Luke Little’s time at the University of Mary will be remembered for much more than statistics alone. Still, those numbers tell part of an important story: a record-setting receiver, a respected student-athlete, and a Marauder who earned the chance to test himself at the highest level.
