University of Mary offensive lineman earns professional opportunity in 2026 season after standout collegiate career in Bismarck
Former University of Mary offensive lineman Melvin Hudson has signed with the Green Bay Blizzard for the 2026 season, taking the next step in his football journey after a strong and consistent career with the Marauders.
A native of Locust Grove, Georgia, Hudson made a lasting impact during his time at the University of Mary. Over four seasons in Bismarck, he developed into a dependable and respected presence on the offensive line, appearing in 43 games and making 41 starts from 2021 through 2024.
Hudson’s career with the Marauders was defined by durability, discipline, and steady performance in the trenches. He once started 28 consecutive games, a reflection of both his reliability and the confidence the program placed in him. His consistency helped anchor the offensive front and made him an important part of the Marauders’ success during his time in the program.
At the University of Mary, Hudson competed in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and represented the Marauders with professionalism throughout his collegiate career. He appeared in all 11 games in 2021, all 11 games in 2022, made 10 appearances in 2023, and returned to play in all 11 games as a senior in 2024.
Beyond his contributions on the field, Hudson also pursued his studies in communication and sports management, reflecting the well-rounded commitment that the Marauder football program seeks to develop in its student-athletes.
Before arriving at the University of Mary, Hudson stood out at Locust Grove High School in Georgia, where he earned All-State and All-Region second-team honors, served as an offensive line captain, and helped lead his team to the 2018 state playoffs. His background also speaks to his character and versatility, as he was a three-year letter winner, a member of the jazz band, and a two-time all-state band selection.
Hudson’s signing is a meaningful milestone for both him and the University of Mary football family. His professional opportunity with the Green Bay Blizzard reflects the work he put in as a Marauder and stands as an encouraging example for current and future student-athletes.
The Marauder community is proud to see Melvin continue his football career at the professional level, and we celebrate this well-earned achievement as he begins the next chapter.
